FAQ's:
-
Have you
downloaded the latest updates? They might solve your
problem without going any further.
-
If you
can't see the whole screen or you're having trouble interacting with the
software:-
Change your screen resolution to 800 X 600 pixels as indicated on
the box. In Windows, that means choose Start, Settings, Control
Panel, Display, Settings and then adjust Screen Area to 800x600 pixels
and Apply.
-
Picture Quality:
The ideal setting for good
picture quality is 16 bit color as indicated on the box. In
Windows, that means choose Start, Settings, Control Panel, Display,
Settings and then change Colors to 16 bit. Some external CD
ROM drives may cause the video clips to appear stilted when
played. If you have disc space, install the CD's to your hard
drive to overcome this problem.
-
If you see a an OLE
automation error:-Don't worry - nothing broke!
Go to 'Preferences' on the Scuba Sodwana main menu and turn the sound
off. Either you don't have a sound card in your machine or
something is amiss with the driver or installation of your sound
card. Lap tops seem particularly prone to this problem.
After turning the sound off, you will be able to use the software
without any further problems.
-
Don't try to manually copy software from the CDs:-
Click to see new important info
Installation of Scuba Sodwana is fully automated and you will be
guided through the simple process. Manually copying software onto
your hard drive first will interfere with the installation
process. Scuba Sodwana is designed to allow you to install one or
both CD's entirely to your machine. Alternately you can run the
software from the CD's themselves. The software will prompt you to
insert CD1 or 2 as required.

Manual
Copy if you really really have to.
It has recently (Aug 2003) come to our attention that it is possible
that even with the upgraded copy program, the fish pictures may not
successfully copy onto your hard drive. This is unlikely and
very mysterious, but while we try to solve the mystery, you may have
to do a manual copy and here's how.
-
First
please ensure that you have downloaded the upgrade, run it, and run
the copy procedures by selecting "Preferences", "Copy
CD1 to my hard drive" and "Copy CD2 to my hard
drive".
-
If
you are still getting "file not found" errors for jpg
files when browsing fish, then try the manual copy.
-
Make
sure you have sufficient disk space - these images need at least 310
MB.
-
Ensure
that "Copy CD1" and "Copy CD2" are still
selected in "Preferences".
-
Insert
Scuba Sodwana Disk 2 in your CD Rom drive (where else?)
-
Right
Click on Start and select "Explore"
-
Select
your CD ROM Drive (usually "D") labelled Scuba_Sodwana_2
-
Open
the folder D:\Pics\Jpg 800x600
-
Select
the folder "Fishes" and copy it. (yes, the whole folder)
-
Now
go to the directory C:\Program Files\Scuba Sodwana\Pics\Jpg 800x600
-
Paste
"Fishes" into that folder, overwriting the existing
"Fishes" folder as well as its contents.
-
If Scuba Sodwana
seems to hang or you get some weird graphics in the package:-
Sorry this one's painful. Some graphics accelerator cards
are not fully supported by Microsoft. Go to Start, Settings,
Control panel, Display, Settings. Choose the Advanced Button
and then Performance. Reduce the hardware accelerator slider
to NONE and then apply and reboot. Now test Scuba Sodwana
again. Then gradually increase one notch at a time, apply, reboot
and test Scuba Sodwana again. If it crashes, you'll have to
reduce the acceleration again. You will end up at the optimal
hardware setting for acceleration with no discernable effect on
other packages.
That's it folks - we've covered all enquiries we've had so far. Most
users have no problems at all.
